[2007]housing right before fall

Hi!
   
  I'm still looking for a place to stay for the fall quarter.  I'm thinking of looking around for an apartment when I arrive in Corvallis around Sep. 1.  I guess it's unwise but is it difficult to find a place around that time without first securing it?  Thanks a lot!
