Hello Level 5 and 6 Academic English Students, I’m writing to tell you about the AE recommendation process for students who would like to become undergraduate or graduate study at OSU. You have met the proficiency requirements for university study and will receive an automatic recommendation if you:
have completed all of your core Level 6 courses (Reading/Writing and Listening/Speaking) with grades of C (undergraduate) or B (graduate*).
have passed your elective courses.and
are in good attendance standing (you are not on attendance probation or have successfully completed probation). *Colleges at the OSU Graduate School may require TOEFL/IELTS or other test scores in addition to an AE Recommendation. Students who have met the minimum score requirements on the TOEFL or IELTS will receive a recommendation regardless of INTO grades. The Recommendation Committee will evaluate each student on the recommendation list based on INTO grades and highest reported TOEFL/IELTS score. Please be sure that you have given INTO your recent score information. The Recommendation Committee will also consider recommendations for high-achieving Level 5 and Level 5/6 students who are eligible and who have requested a recommendation. To be eligible, you must:
have earned top scores (at least B+) in your core Level 5 course(s).
have a TOEFL or IELTS score that is close to but does not meet the minimum undergraduate or graduate requirements for OSU.
be recommended by your Level 5 Instructor(s). Level 6 students do not need to request a recommendation but will be considered if they meet the criteria for Level 6 students above. Level 5 and Level 5/6 students must request a recommendation at the Welcome Desk of the ILLC if they meet the criteria for Level 5 students above. This term, the Recommendation Committee will meet on Friday, March 23 after all final grades have been reported. Level 5 and Level 5/6 students who have requested a recommendation will be informed by e-mail on Wednesday, March 28 if they have been approved for a recommendation.
Take care,
